The HEIDENHAIN ERA 4280 is an exposed modular angle encoder without integral bearing for measuring steps 0.005° to 0.0005° with 1Vpp output and a 20µm grading period.

The HEIDENHAIN ERA 4280 modular rotary encoder consists of a solid steel scale drum, scanning unit and optional protective cover with a graduation located on the circumference of the cylindrical scale drum offering axial movements up to ± 0.5mm (± 0.02 in.) in the drive shaft, resulting therefore with no effect on measuring accuracy.
